Luxury Modern Cabins Nestled in the Boulders and Trees, Minutes from Whiskey Row and the Rodeo Grounds
We offer two modern cabin rentals nestled in the granite boulders and pine trees of Prescott, Arizona, just minutes from the downtown square.
The property blends the soulful simplicity of Greek island life with the natural ruggedness of Arizona’s boulder-strewn landscape.
We call this project Kaliva (καλύβα)—a Greek word meaning “countryside shelter” or humble retreat. It reflects our personal story: One an American and the other a Greek, we met many years ago in Athens. Over time, we’ve come to love the beauty and tranquility of Prescott’s high desert, and Kaliva represents the merging of these two places we hold dear.
We’ve named the buildings Alpha (the upper guest house), and Beta (the lower guest house), and our logo is inspired by the hand-painted geometric patterns found on buildings in Chios, Greece—a tribute to heritage, craftsmanship, and slow living. We hope you feel that balance here: a space where design, nature, and meaning come together.

The shower features an overhead rain shower as well as a wall-mounted yet removable hand-held wand. Controls at the shower entrance divert the water between the two fixtures and also control the temperature and water pressure.
We provide plush towels and Aveda shower products.
Alpha’s modern kitchenette includes a microwave, Keurig, electric kettle, toaster, coffee, tea, and the necessary barware —ideal for light snacks, drinks, and early-morning rituals. The custom cabinet drawers & doors are push-to-open and soft-close.
The interior space is separated from the outdoor patio by a three panel, ten-foot sliding glass door that provides two-panel wide opening. Screens optional.
Tucked among boulders, Alpha’s patio invites you to sip coffee at sunrise or unwind beneath the stars. It’s a front-row seat to nature’s quiet drama with 100% privacy.
Kaliva was designed to blend into the native landscape, enhancing its natural beauty. Though just minutes from downtown Prescott, Alpha offers complete privacy and a deep sense of seclusion.
Kaliva land is over one acre in size and bordered by other large properties. Once you step onto Alpha’s patio, you’ll be fully immersed in the beauty and tranquility of the surroundings.
A glimpse of both Beta (left) and Alpha (right) showcases Kaliva’s architectural footprint — modern, minimal, and intentionally placed to honor the natural boulders and tree canopy. Alpha is located at the top of the drive.
We often see deer on the property - usually in the morning or early evening. We've seen as many as seven at a time! The tall rock formation is known locally as the "horse head" - we think it looks like a chicken and call it "The C@#k Rock."
We have an abundance of boulders on the property, each with its own personality. This is "The Whale" - he often visits the Yavapai casino.
Mule deer are the predominant deer species in Prescott and throughout Arizona . They feature large mule‑like ears, dark forehead patch, white rump patch, and narrow white tail tipped with black .
Kaliva is a modern retreat that harmonizes minimalist architecture with deep cultural roots and regional artistry. Inspired by the clean lines and honest materials of Scandinavian plywood cabin design, Kaliva features a warm, wood-based interior that offers comfort without excess. The sleek black metal exterior, evocative of Nordic cabins, blends into the forested Prescott landscape while standing as a bold, architectural gesture.

The visual identity draws from the painted village of Pyrgi on the Greek island of Chios. Kaliva’s logo echoes the geometric sgraffito patterns—bold black-and-white motifs that reflect a heritage of craftsmanship and rhythm. This influence reinforces the visual clarity and graphic restraint found throughout the cabin.

Inside, the bathrooms are sculpted in lime plaster and stone, a direct homage to the Cycladic islands of Greece. The tadelakt-style walls and hand-selected materials recall whitewashed cliffside dwellings, grounding guests in an elemental sense of calm and place.

Kaliva honors its Arizona setting through the use of natural materials and a curated selection of art inspired by native and western motifs. These pieces—subtle, textural, and rooted in the land—add authenticity and soul, bridging regional context with global design references.
At its core, Kaliva is a dialogue between Scandinavian modernism, Mediterranean tradition, and Southwestern spirit—a refined, intentional space designed for rest, reconnection, and quiet beauty.

Dimitris and I fell in love with Prescott years ago, and we’re so happy to share this special place with you. Building Kaliva has been a labor of love—and part of a bigger dream to one day have a home of our own here in town. By staying with us, you’re helping make that dream a reality, and we’re genuinely grateful.
If there’s anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable or memorable, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We hope Kaliva offers the same peace, beauty, and inspiration that drew us to the high desert in the first place.
Cheers! (Yia sas),
Rachel
